Edy Winarno adalah seorang yang berkecimpung di bidang elektro, elektronika dan komputer sejak tahun 1991. Pada tahun inilah saat menginjakkan kaki untuk pertama kalinya di Kota Semarang. Awal mula di Semarang adalah melanjutkan studi di salah satu sekolah favorit waktu itu yaitu di STM Negeri Pembangunan Semarang selama 4 tahun. Jurusan yang diambil adalah Elektronika Komunikasi. Pada tahun 1994 sempat melakukan Kerja Praktek selama 3 bulan di PT. Elektrindo Nusanatara Jakarta yg merupakan cabang dari PT. Bimantara milik keluarga Cendana waktu itu. Di Perusahaan ini pertama kalinya Edy Winarno dikenalkan dengan teknologi Telepon mobile atau pada waktu itu disebut dengan STKBN (Sistem Telepon Bergerak Nasional). Hanya dengan hitungan beberapa tahun saja sekarang perkembangan dunia ponsel sedemikian cepatnya hingga muncul produk-produk baik GSM (Global System Mobile) maupun CDMA (Code Division Multiple Accessed).
Pernah bekerja sebagai Administrator pada proyek pembuatan data pelanggan menggunakan software autocad di PT.(Persero) PLN Cabang Semarang. Pernah juga bekerja sebagai desain program sekaligus maintenance jaringan komputer pada PT. Tiga Manunggal Synthetic Industries di Salatiga. Kesehariannya disibukkan dengan kegiatan mengelola beberapa rental game yang ada di Salatiga dan Semarang. Setelah menyelesaikan studi Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) di bidang Computer System & Informatics di S2 Teknik Elektro UGM Yogyakarta, sekarang lebih banyak menghabiskan waktunya untuk mengajar di kampus dengan beberapa mata kuliah di bidang komputer dan informatika.
